Nortec Panoptica Orchestra: Roberto Mendoza has been one of the main figures in the Mexican electro scene since the late 80’s by founding Mexico's benchmark bands like Artefakto, and in the late 90’s the critically acclaimed Nortec Collective (where Northern Mexican folk meets with electronica). But his solo story began in the year 2000 when he signed a deal as Panoptica with the London label Certificate 18 releasing a series of 10’ and albums, unlike in nortec, here he rely more on the electronics with just a wink at his mexican roots, meanwhile Nortec c.'s debut Tijuana Session Vol. 1 was released on Palm Pictures. Around 2003 Roberto concentrated on composing and performing with the Nortec C., because of the increasing demand for the project, and after the second nortec album TJ Sessions Vol.3 (Nacional rec) things got busy, and began a nonstop performing schedule around the globe, this took its toll on the collective and by the end of 2007 decided to break apart. With various songs composed for the collective, Roberto decided to complete a solo album so he recruited a new group of musicians and created the Nortec Panoptica Orchestra.
